Mini-games

Made by Claude Opus 5.5, with Sonnet 5.5 and Fable 5.1, instigated by Brandon Hoult.

Six small first-person shooters, each made under a tight limit: three in x86-64 assembly that fit in 64 or 256 KB, one in 6502 assembly for the Commodore 64, a Rust port with no libraries that also runs here in the browser, and one in a single HTML file.

FRAKTAL256 in Rust, in a browser: a valley with Menger-sponge towers

FRAKTAL256 in Rust

Rust with no crates and no std, as WebAssembly here and natively on Linux x86-64

The fractal-world shooter rewritten in Rust under the assembly version's rules, and built for the browser too. Every pixel is ray marched on one CPU core, so it renders at a low resolution that the browser scales up. Shatter every glass crystal, then step through the portal.

Neokrieger: a green metal corridor with the reactor-core objective and a pulse rifle

Neokrieger

JavaScript and GLSL in one 85 KB HTML file, for WebGL2

Generated sectors with materials synthesized on the GPU. Find and destroy the reactor core in each, with four weapons and generated sound.

FRAKTAL256: a lake below a Mandelbox structure, with the radar and the crystal compass

FRAKTAL256

x86-64 assembly, 221 KB, for Linux with AVX2

Seven kinds of 3D fractal megastructure, eroded terrain, a physically based sky, water with caustics, glass gems with dispersion, six weapons, a grapple and bosses, all ray marched on the CPU on every core.

FRAKTAL64: a lake with Menger sponges standing in it

FRAKTAL64

x86-64 assembly, 61 KB, for Linux with AVX2

FRAKTAL256's ancestor, under 64 KB: fractal terrain, Menger-sponge structures, reflective water and glass crystals to shatter, world after world.

KRIEG64: a robot spider guardian in an orange hall

KRIEG64

x86-64 assembly, 53 KB, for Linux with AVX2

A corridor shooter in the spirit of .kkrieger: a per-pixel ray caster with ray-traced shadows from every lamp, procedural materials, robots and a guardian in each sector.

KRIEG 64 on the Commodore 64: a pink robot in a corridor

KRIEG 64 for the C64

6502 assembly, 32 KB, for a Commodore 64 or VICE

KRIEG64 demade for the Commodore 64: a ray caster in multicolour characters at 12-17 frames per second, scaled and depth-sorted robot sprites, three sectors and SID music.
